For their new shop windows, The House wanted to pay tribute to Nature and the vegetal world, which represent their daily inspirational sources. Discover Compagnie Française de l’Orient et de la Chine’s meadow in a subtle and poetical decor.

Cherry-tree (Prunus Serrulata, Rosaceae)

« Sakura » tree represents the metaphor of the ephemeral character of life for Samouraïs and Buddhist which is also the emblematic tree of Japan. Each year, the ancestral ritual “Hanami” is the occasion for people to gather to medidate and contemplate Sakura’s flowers.

Chrysanthemum (Chrysanthemum, Asteraceae)

The chrysanthemum is the imperial seal of the rising sun land and the symbol of eternity and joy in the East. Its nickname “golden flower” came from its own original color. The legend says that to drink the morning rose water from a chrysanthemum petal can extend life…

Peony (Paeonia, Paeoniaceae)

Peony flower also called « the queen of flowers » in China, represents wealth and honor. Strong flower, the legend says that one night the Wu empress (dynastie Ming) gave flowers the order to blossom one night but only peony stayed closed.

Water lily (Nymphaea, Nymphaeaceae)

The « pond lily » was born in the asleep water and deploys its large limb leafs which are floating on the surface. The water lily is the allegory of the creation and the resurrection and it is its own guarantor of its ecosystem balance.

Ginkgo (Ginkgo biloba, Ginkgoaceae)

The Gingko tree is very sacred in the Middle and Far East, it is the symbol of Tokyo and embodies growth, hope and longevity. The Ginko tree’s nickname is « The thousand coins » because of its golden autumnal foliage. This tree is very appreciated for its traditional Chinese medicine benefits.

Orchid (Vanda, Orchidaceae)

Real vegetal, terrestrial and epiphyte empress. the orchid flower is venerated for its beauty and fragrance.The legends counts that weither the flower opens on the east or on the ouest it is a boy or a girl.

Lotus (Nelumbo nucifera, Nelumbonaceae)

This aquatic plant was born in the muddy waters fly in the air and tell that the rising of the soul is the way to nirvana. Lotus plant is the symbol of the spiritual awakening in the buddhist culture.

Camellia (Camellia Japonensis, Theaceae)

The Camellia flower is an indigenous plant of the Far East and it is also called « The Asian rose ». Camellia represents immortality, elegance and perfect beauty. In French it used to be written « caméllia » but Alexandre Dumas got rid of one « l » in its famous novel.
