Old from 25 to 225 million years, the petrified wood of this ornamental piece is unearthed and chosen by our explorers in volcanic areas of Java island. In the past, the island was known for its volcanic eruptions which buried entire forests. Thanks to a magic alchemy between the silica, contained in ashes, the water and wood filtration, the sedimentation process starts and petrifaction occurs. Despite its fossilization, the wood preserves its characteristics from its singular shape to its veining. Once extracted, petrified woods are cut, polished and associated to a black metal base. Their extraction is controlled and severely limited. Each piece is unique by its shape and its tint.
